Amivo started with a feeling many of us know well : loving our family deeply, but not always being able to be there.
My grandmother lives in a care home now. After my grandfather passed away, I often wondered if her days felt too quiet. I hoped she was eating well. I hoped someone had spoken to her. I hoped she still felt remembered.
My mother lives far from me. There were many times she called when I was busy. Sometimes I answered too quickly. Sometimes I said I would call back, and didn’t.
But I knew there were days when she simply missed me.
And I knew love should not have to wait until life becomes less busy.
I also think about my child.I want him to grow up knowing that family is not only built on holidays, birthdays, or big memories. It is built in the small moments we choose to notice every day.
A little more patience.
A little more presence.
A little more care.
For the grandmother we worry about.
For the mother we miss.
For the child we want to raise with love.
